Dr. Harris B. Stratyner

 

Harris B StratynerDr. Harris B. Stratyner, Ph.D., CASAC is the Regional Vice President for Caron’s New York Recovery Center.  A renowned addiction and mental health treatment specialist with more than 27 years of experience, he oversees the clinical staff and develops and implements workshops/ programs for patients in recovery.  Additionally, he serves as one of Caron Treatment Center’s primary spokespeople and is routinely sought after by the media to provide expert commentary on national news about addiction and mental health issues.

 

Dr. Stratyner developed the technique "Carefrontation,” which combines the latest motivational engagement techniques and an environment of respect and dignity to stress individual responsibility to deal with one's addiction or mental health condition.

 

Dr. Stratyner currently holds positions as a Clinical Associate Professor at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and as a Vice Chair of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) Board of Directors.

 

Before joining Caron, Dr. Stratyner held leadership and academic positions at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He was listed by the prestigious Castle Connelly almanac as one of the profession’s leading specialists.

 

Dr. Stratyner received his Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Seton Hall University in New Jersey. He is also a credentialed alcohol and substance abuse counselor.  He received an honorary degree from Mercy College in New York for his work in the field of addiction.
